Location: Remote
Job Type: 30-40 hours per week, contracted hourly

Switchboard is a Series A startup developing a collaboration platform that keeps everyone on the same page. In order to help us be on the same page as our current and prospective customers, we're looking for an innovative and scrappy contract Marketing Manager to join our team and lead social listening, social media commenting, and community group engagement. By keeping your ear to the grindstone, you’ll uncover insights and provide valuable recommendations to people who could benefit from using Switchboard.

tl;dr: You will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing social media conversations, engaging with our audience across various social platforms including LinkedIn, Reddit, X, Quora, and Hacker News, and providing value in relevant community groups. You’re a strategic thinker with A+ communication skills and love helping people find what they’re looking for. This is a 3-month contract with an opportunity to convert to a permanent position in the future.

What you'll do:

  • Social listening: Monitor and analyze conversations on social media platforms to understand sentiment and trends related to Switchboard, collaboration, and relevant use cases. You’ll track brand mentions, relevant hashtags, and a list of keywords you’ll help define. You’ll gather and generously drop knowledge and actionable recommendations with the marketing and product teams.
  • Social media commenting: Actively (and politely!) engage with people on social media by responding to comments, messages, and mentions in a way that’s helpful, not salesy. You’ll help maintain a consistent brand voice across all conversations. Plus, you’ll identify opportunities to build relationships with potential customers and partners, while building a base of followers.
  • Community groups: Identify online community groups related to our brand and relevant use cases that we should join (we being you or the right person in the company). Working with our internal team, you’ll create, source, and curate content that would be valuable to the people within these groups.
  • Strategy: Don’t simply execute on the plan we’ve proposed. You’ll come in and push boundaries to develop and execute social listening and engagement strategies that drive awareness and trial. You’re also performance oriented and will outline a test plan and track performance against those goals.
  • Reporting: Keep the team organized and in the loop by regularly sharing what you learn and what is/isn’t working. We know a great collaboration tool that can help you with that. ; )

Who you are:

  • Social media maven. You enjoy being part of the conversation and adding value to the larger community by contributing your own ideas and celebrating other people’s great ideas.
  • Not afraid of jumping in. People’s attention spans are short and you’re ready and willing to pounce on a trend or a conversation before it’s come and gone.
  • Experimental mindset. You have a ship and iterate mentality that allows you to experiment rapidly and learn quickly.
  • Passionate about how people work together. You are fascinated by workplace dynamics and want to help people find better ways to collaborate, whether they’re in the office or not.
  • Not a bull in a china shop. You have an innate sense about when it’s appropriate to join a conversation in a way that’s helpful and not spammy.

What we are looking for:

  • Lives anywhere in the US — Switchboard is a remote company.
  • 3-5 years of experience in social media management, community engagement, or a similar role with at least 2+ years working on a B2B/SaaS product.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, tools, and analytics including LinkedIn, Reddit, X, and Hacker News. Familiarity with Positional an unexpected plus.
  • Bonus: Experience with a horizontal platform with multiple use cases and target audiences.
