AI this, AI that. We all have a bit of AI fatigue, but these time-saving AI tricks use multiple sources of data in a Switchboard room. In this article, we’ll show you how to use AI to gain insights and generate new ideas.

Here are 5 ways you’ll want to start using AI in a Switchboard room today.

Problem #1: I need to understand what people think about my competitors’ product

Do quick research using multiple sources to learn what people love (and hate) about your competitors.

Ask AI questions about your competitors

How it works:

  • Step 1: Add documents, web sites like G2 or Capterra, and PDF reports about your competitor to a Switchboard room
  • Step 2: Ask a question using the in-room AI such as “What are the least popular features for Product X?” or “What is the top complaint about Product X?”. Switchboard AI captures details from every document and website currently open in your room.
  • Step 3: Copy the answers to an in-room notepad or any document— Switchboard AI includes source documents.

Great for: product managers, designers, marketing, creative agencies.

Problem #2: I need a way to aggregate customer feedback from multiple data sources

Analyze feedback from different sources open on the canvas. The data will help identify the most requested features or prevalent issues to prioritize items on your roadmap.

Ask AI to compare data

How it works:

  • Step 1: Add reports that contain customer feedback and product documentation such as exported data from Zendesk, Notion, or Google Sheets to a Switchboard room
  • Step 2: Ask for an analysis of user feedback such as, “How many requests have there been [x] feature?”. Switchboard AI will review the data across the documents and applications currently open in your room to generate an answer.
  • Step 3: Update your roadmap from within the room or capture your learning in another document.

Great for: product managers, project managers, engineering.

Problem #3: I need a quick summary of a research report or other very long document

Search tends to be an ineffective way to answer questions about info in a PDF. Switchboard AI can extract information from a single or even multiple PDFs at the same time.

Analyze multiple PDF reports

How it works:

  • Step 1: Add PDF(s) to the room.
  • Step 2: Use AI to ask for a summary or ask specific questions such as, “Please generate a list of quotes about [subject] from this document,” or “What software is mentioned in the report?”.
  • Step 3: Copy the answers to an in-room notepad or any document.

Great for: agencies, researchers, marketing, anyone who doesn’t have time to read looooong documents.

Problem #4: Brainstorm new features based on my existing product roadmap

During early ideation, the AI can provide data, statistics, and examples to inspire vision and boost creativity. The AI can also summarize brainstorming material in the room.

How it works:

  • Step 1: Add a document with your product features to the room. Ask AI to suggest new features based on your current product features.
  • Step 2: Once AI has generated the ideas, paste them into the room. Then conduct your brainstorm by adding sticky notes, browsers, documents to the canvas.
  • Step 3: At the end of the brainstorming session, ask AI to generate a clean summary to share and prioritize.

Great for: product managers, project managers, designers, researchers.

Problem #5: I need to interview several candidates and want to personalize questions based on the job description and their resume.

You just posted a new open position and have been inundated with resumes (lucky you!). AI can help you craft questions based on data in individual resumes and the job description.

How it works:

  • Step 1: Create a section for each candidate. Add your job description along with the resume and/or LinkedIn profile for each perspective candidate. Include one candidate per section.
  • Step 2: Ask AI to generate interview questions based on the job description and the information in their resume. For example, “What questions will help me understand if [candidate name] is a good fit for [role]?
  • Step 3: Review resumes and (bonus points!) ask AI to write an email with a request to schedule an interview based on data in each resume.

Great for: hiring managers, recruiters, HR.
